I went past this place several times without noticeing it at once. If you go first, you notice how clean everything is. I took my number on the door. There were a few customers in front of me, so while I waited that I went up the Aisles and was blown away from the beautiful selection of oils, pastas, wines and sodas that they were in stock. The finished dishes that the feature all look delicious. You can choose from a nice selection of warm and cold sandwiches all fresh hand made. For the first time I chose Hot Pastrami with all fixations. It was just delicious.
I used to go here all the time when I went to Glendale Community College in 2018. I've tried so many of their sandwiches and yet they make great sandwiches! I live all the way in Encinitas, but every time I'm in town, I'll see by. If you haven't tried anything from your food, you definitely give them a try.
Beautiful old school style Italian Deli with a wide selection of dishes and drinks. Just the reason I don't give it 5 starts because their Mario Combo Sub comes with a piece of bread in the middle, BigMac style. And while the sandwich tastes well, I can't give it 5 stars in good conscience if there are other delis in LA area (e.g. Bay Cities, Uptown Provisions, etc., which would pack the sandwich with extra meat instead of more bread. Some kind of cheap movement.
Having lived in New York, and shopped at Italian delis owned by Italian American families, stepping into Mario?s felt like stepping back into my years back East. There?s a great selection of imported Italian ingredients from pasta and tomato sauce to wine and sparkling beverages; and so many takeaway items made in that style that only a real Italian deli can! If I lived closer, I?d be here every week.
