They 've done something awful to the bistro calamari (it wasn 't good last time either, that 's made it taste bland and fishy at the same time. They don 't put nearly enough of the seasoning they used to (it was unique and made their dish craveable, so to lose it is sad. The marinara for dipping tasted like bland plum tomatoes that have been too long in the can and were just crushed and served as a sauce. Bland and metallic tasting. So almost no seasoning, terrible (crime against humanity marinara and there were no lemons! Our server had taken off for parts unknown so it was stone cold before we were finally able to get some to try and save it. Mission failed. As I mentioned, the service wasn 't great. There was a weird incident with seating. No hostess. I don 't know if it was staffing shortage or something weird they 're trying with having servers seat their own tables or seat other servers tables but we waited a while and then when someone finally came, she looked at us awkwardly, entered something into the console and then didn 't acknowledge us and basically ran away. Odd and sort of rude. The ranch tasted funny for our salads. I 'm wondering if they changed supplier and their ingredients aren 't as good? I dunno. It was just so disappointing. End of an era for us.
My family and I visited Oregano’s in search of an Italian dining experience. While it was a decent choice, it was rather unremarkable overall. The portions were generous, and the service was okay, though a bit slow. I tried a pasta dish that featured typical spaghetti (substituted with penne) with meat sauce and meatballs. It was good, but nothing exceptional. It was nice to know that there was an option for all-you-can-eat, but we didn’t end up ordering a second portion. The bread was enjoyable, but the pizza didn’t impress us. Looking back, we should have sought out a pizza place that also served pasta instead of a pasta place offering pizza. If I lived nearby, I might consider returning, but it wouldn’t make my list for a repeat visit during vacation.
Being from Chicago, we love !! Of course we find one with an amazing story! Not only was this thin crust pizza with Wisconsin cheese amazing; The start of Oregano's began on the north side of Chicago during the Great Depression when the owner was born! When you go you can expect to hear Frank Sinatra swingin' Big Band records just a wonderful tribute to living in the 50's. His simple philosophy about life: the key to happiness is friends, good food and music. The service was awesome!
The food was quite good; in my opinion, it's even better than Olive Garden's chicken Alfredo. My family and I all agreed that everything we ordered was delicious. The service was also great; we had no issues at all. It was my first visit, and I had a wonderful experience. My family is familiar with this restaurant, and I came here based on their recommendation. We gathered here for a family lunch, and it turned out to be a great choice!
Well.... I used to love Oreganos and I think this experience has purged me of that love... I put my name in on the wait-list online. It send me a message saying to press 1 to let them know we were on the way. I pressed 1... Soon after I got a message stating that since they didn't hear from me, they were removing me but if I were still on my way to press 1. I pressed 1 again.. Got to the restaurant and was told they couldn't see the messages and all that they saw was a 1, so we had been removed from the wait-list. I wasn't a super long wait for a table... But not being super busy should have been a huge hint to leave... After we ordered we waited for about 30 minutes for our food. We had 2 adults and 4 kids... So this was a long wait for them. Especially since we didn't order a pan pizza. When our order arrived, my order of zany ziti was missing. Apparently our server never heard me say it as it was missing off our bill as well... In addition to the inattentive server, our childrens pasta was undercooked.... They had angel hair. That is super hard to undercook... Especially when we had to wait 30 minutes. We won't be back. Super disappointing experience.
