Definitely a chef who takes pride in his/her work. Service was very good too, nothing too much trouble. Dessert was also to a very high standard. I recommend the Sticky Toffee Pudding. Pleasant atmosphere with room between tables so not packed together. Only a small carpark for 4 cars but large carpark at top of Godshill village and only a few minutes walk to The Taverners. Garden area at rear. More expensive than a usual Sunday Carvery but well worth the extra. Dog friendly too with biscuit treats at the bar for your pooch. Recommended, will definitely go back.
Excellent country pub. We had fish and chips with diet coke. Love the ambience, staff was very welcoming, excellent service. its very close to Godshill Model Village. I recommend all visiting tourist to stop over here and enjoy the lovely food and or drinks.
Called into The Taverners on spec, no booking. Greeted straight away, really pleasant and helpful staff. Nice atmosphere, quirky building layout that has a lot of charm to it . Food excellent great visit and well recommended.
I would highly recommend The Taverners for a meal, the atmosphere is warm and so are the staff. They are very knowledgeable, polite and friendly. All of the meals have something extra to them to elevate them beyond a normal meal and there is such a great range of sides! The cumin and honey carrots were delicious! The olives were also the nicest ones I had, had in a long time. If you like red wine I recommend the red from Puglia, so delicious. The only thing that would give it an extra star for me would be an extra vegetarian option, although, I must admit they do have a great range.
While on holiday on the Isle of Wight we decided to revisit a pub we first went to 9 years ago on our first trip there. This time, though, we had two children in tow. A far cry from our carefree childless days. Anyway I digress. We'd booked in advance and upon arrival were shown to our table. Our waiter, a young chap who had recently returned to work after some time off, informed us that it was mussel Friday. Harry, age seven and his mum love mussels so ordered a portion each and I had the same too as not to get food envy, as for George 19mths, he had some chips and mussels from our plates that he smashed down with the table water. £16 got us a kilo of mussels and a glass of wine each. Harry and Stacey (the wife) are not big wine drinkers so we asked if we could swap. And they were happy to do so. The meal was lovely, the beer was excellent and the staff and atmosphere amazing. Not to mention those behind the scenes cooking the food who prepared an excellent meal for us. Recommended
