Downe Arms - Goole

This restaurant is our go-to spot whenever we visit our mum in Snaith. We’ve enjoyed some wonderful meals here. The service is consistently excellent, and the portions are more than generous and delicious. My mum and her friends love their Sunday lunches, which I haven’t had the chance to try yet. Overall, I give the service a 5 and the location a 5!

The restaurant doesn't accept emergency reservations, especially after 11 PM, as they are closed at that time.

As a Google guide, I recently discovered this pub and was truly impressed. The staff are incredibly friendly, and the rooms are just perfect. It's a great place to stay—spacious, welcoming, and serving delicious food. I highly recommend it! Ratings: Rooms: 5, Service: 5, Location: 5.

My friend and I had booked a night here, been booked for around 2 months in advance. The advertised price was £35 bargain or so we thought! Having the booking confirmed by a 3rd party, the receipt confirming the balance paid in full and nothing outstanding. We arrive and are told that the price we paid isn’t correct and “just a deposit” even through there is absolutely no mention of this! They then try to ask for a further £35! Even on their website the fee that night is £55! We are told we won’t find anything cheaper or for £35 (spoiler alert we did) We were obviously annoyed and trying to sort a new place to stay as we refuse to stay somewhere that cons people out of more money, especially as they would of had ample opportunity to contact us to say there is a further fee to pay. We heard one staff member say they don’t want “our type around here” we don’t know what they meant by this but it was a rude comment. There was no apology made and I feel they do this regularly, so beware when booking. They also commented that they were very quiet well I’m not surprised really. If our booking had of been honoured we would have been buying drinks in the pub and food, I can only assume this pub is doing so well as to be able turn away customers. Also if it had of been a nice place to stay we would have brought repeat custom. I do find it very odd to be asked to pay double but their web site states a cheaper price. You don’t go to Tesco and buy a pint of milk, pay for it only to be told no you have to pay again on exit! Most people would probably pay the extra “just because” but I would advise if this happens to you just go elsewhere, we found a great deal on another hotel and had a great stay. Could have done without the messing around tho.
