I have read reviews of this bar in which the authors complain about the service. Most visitors do not understand that the bar is NOT a commercial establishment; rather, it is a working man 's bar that is operated on a subscription basis. Annual membership is five Euros, and the cheap drinks for members are subsidized by the annual dues. The bar was founded in 1912 and served as the meeting place for the French resistance during World War II. The members let you come to their local club to have a drink, but the bar is usually filled with local people at night because it is a social institution, not a business. All the visitors tend to sit outside on the balcony to enjoy the beautiful view of the Luberon valley. If you order a drink at the bar and point in the direction of the balcony and say, S 'il vous plaît (please), the bartender will bring the drink to your table. We spent two twilights here enjoying the sunset. We recommend it highly!
If you can get one of the 4 tables on the terrace amazing view south west you have to march through a room of locals to actually see the terrace well worth a visit
We loved the ambience of a local cafe. We had friendly service and good coffee/drinks. If the weather allows sit on balcony.
