El Maguey Grill - Goshen

I often order takeout from this restaurant, at least twice a month, and I usually enjoy the food. However, during my most recent order, I got a chicken quesadilla and discovered three bay leaves inside. It seems someone might have forgotten to remove them before serving. I'm not sure whether they're safe to eat, but I chose not to.

The food was enjoyable, and I have no complaints about the taste. My wife opted for the sampler, while I chose the mocajete. For appetizers, we ordered the chunky guacamole and queso fundido. The guacamole was excellent, while the queso was just average. My wife thought hers was good. My mocajete was well-seasoned and tasty, but I will say it contained about 85% bell peppers and cactus, with very little meat. The little meat that was there was delicious, but the dish didn't quite match the picture on the menu. Overall, the food was good, and the service was satisfactory. However, I was taken aback when I saw that a small side of sour cream cost $2.19. Additionally, there were a lot of flies buzzing around. Because of the flies and the outrageous charge for the sour cream, my overall impression was average. If there had been more meat in the mocajete and a more reasonable price for the sour cream, we would have likely left feeling much more enthusiastic.

Excellent food, quick service, and friendly staff. My colleagues and I often choose El Maguey as our go-to spot for after-work gatherings. They make the best Pina Coladas!

Great homemade salsa with a little heat. Taco's were great and the lunch burrito was huge!! We will be back

I cannot rave enough about this place. First time dinning at this restaurant. The atmosphere is cozy and on the festive side from the music. My boyfriend and I both got Carne asada street tacos Mexican style. They were the best tacos and it really hit the spot. I didn't mind that the server didn't check on us and we both avoided being asked how our food was with a mouthful of food. The chips were nice and crispy and the salsa was delicious without being spicy (kid friendly salsa). I would recommend eating here and will be going back as much as I can.
