However, the four small portions of chips were disappointing as they were very oily and soggy. We had to re-fry them at home before they were edible. Overall, this visit was a letdown and we would only give it three stars, being generous.
Every year, members of the MX5 Owners Club Solent Area gather at The Village Fish Bar for a memorable dining experience. Last night, 42 members met at Gilkicker Car Park, Lifeboat Lane, for this event as the sun set in the West. The team at The Village Fish Bar consistently produces high-quality fish and chips that we all enjoy. Some of us who live nearby even visit the fish bar regularly because it is just that good.
When a restaurant has a line of locals waiting outside, it's typically a good sign. In this instance, it's a guarantee of quality. The staff is charming, and the operation runs smoothly with a loyal local following. You may even strike up conversations with interesting locals. But the real test is the fish and chips. As a Yorkshire native, I may be biased, but I can confidently say they were delicious.
Tonight was the worst chippy tea experience ever! Chips were awful with many scraggy bits my wife said her haddock was very dry the batter soggy. We only ate it because we were hungry. It wasn’t worth the price we paid. If the shop had been open to return the meal, that is what we would have done. Definitely not ‘through to the next round’…
Wow ............ Just WOW Best fish and chips ever I can't tell you just how good this place is, but I'll try Nicest, freshest piece of cod I've ever eaten, and lovely batter Great chips and a very generous portion Perfect pea fritter AND, it's very reasonably priced I was offered, and accepted, a slice of lemon with my fish Never been offered that in a takeaway before, nice! I don't think they could do anything any better, I really don't This amazing chippy is ten miles from where I live, there are many that are nearer, and I will definitely be going back Don't take my word for it, try them yourself, I promise you won't regret it The only possible negative is that I've heard there can be a queue at busy times But that is the best sign that they're good, right? Thank you Village Fish Bar Alverstoke for the best fish supper ever I'll happily queue for your food again
