Was a nice day so decided to sit in the garden area and have some wine. My mate had the original pilsner, which is apparently imported from Czech Republic and really liked it and said will definitely be back with more mates for some drinks. All in all, great food and very friendly attentive staff. Definitely will be back and will recommend for others to check it out! Good to see more European cuisine in Chch.
I have been here a few times and tried Svickova, Goulash, Roast Pork with Dumplings and braised cabbage, and Apple Strudel with cream. These lovely meals complemented with Pilsner Urquell on tap are magic. Delicious Czech cousine, fantastic beer, and great coffee. This is my new local place for a meal, beer, and coffee any time of the day. The deserts and other classic dishes here are also amongst my favourite. Perfect atmosphare I have been to Prague and Cafe Prague definitely gives a taste of Prague.Hightly recommended! Well done Cafe Prague!
Another venue has popped up on Lincoln Road. Well actually it 's not a new venue but an old one with a new name. The menu however is slightly different and tries to reflect the style the business is promoting, ie East European. A breakfast meeting before Christmas was the excuse to go there. A table for 10 at a respectful time of 8.00am. We actually pre-ordered to save time. Always keen to try something different I went for the Bohemian Breakfast at $18. It comprise poached eggs (make sure you ask for poached otherwise they are likely to be scrambled), wilted spinach, bacon and bramborak. Now, never having had bramborak I looked it up the day before. A thin potato cake made from shredded potato, flour, garlic, egg, caraway seeds (or slight variations on that basic recipe) and lightly fried until golden. Well that 's what it was supposed to be. Anyway the meal arrived and was awesome. The bramborak was crispy and flavoursome. It was the size of the dinner plate with the eggs, bacon and spinach, with a bit of green all piled on top. A new favourite for me. Others had the standard fare, including a 'full belly ' breakfast of bacon, sausage, potato crumpet, mushroom, beans, tomato, eggs any style, toast or fresh bread for 20 bucks. Great coffee as well. All in all my new best place for brekkie on Lincoln Road.
Whether you are looking for good 'gulas ', 'svieckova ' or just nice place to take somebody out and chat, Cafe Prague has it all. Restaurant is not very big, but i would actually comsider that as advantage as you can feel more homelike there.
We tried their delicious healthy new menu yesterday! Full of veggies and 'Keto ' options just our sort of thing for a satifying, healthy, lunch. Great coffee too!
