Les Palis - Grand-Fougeray

We stumbled over Le Palis quite by accident and were favourably impressed. 16€50 for two courses and an amuse-bouche at lunch time was quite correct. The only real minus was the very over-priced wine list and lack of a house wine. Service was courteous, but we had to wait almost 10 minutes to settle the bill. The small town is very pretty, but there is little to do there. A reasonable stop, however en route to Rennes from Nantes.

We decided to give this another try, having stayed in the hotel and eaten in the restaurant last year with huge reservations. There is an undercurrent of chaos as nobody seems to be managing hotel and restaurant. Ingredients could be of better quality and with fewer flourishes may even provide a really enjoyable meal as the chef has her heart in the right place. Front of house has no skills in dealing with people. Lots of single business people stay and eat here presumably at a special rate. Our room above the kitchen and therefore unacceptably warm had air conditioning which made a noise but didn't produce any cooling air. There was no shower gel in the fixed to the wall container in the shower annoying when wet to have to yank the door open and search for ones own! There was a constant hum from some electrical source possibly the automatic light that went on every time the bathroom door was opened. This quaint village deserves better. The reputation of Logis deserves better. Even travellers deserve better!!

The food was expensive. The service was rude. The food was of a poor standard and place was covered in ants, even the bill arrived at the table covered in ants. Not at all pleasant.

This is a rather deceptive looking hotel positioned on the attractive main square. From the outside, it looks quite small, but on entry, it is much larger that it looks. It is well presented and our room was a very good size. There is an excellent restaurant, serving good food with a choice of menus. We would certainly stay again

Dans un beau cadre, avec une bonne réputation, notre visite du restaurant est très mitigé.Les + :Salle confortable Plat très bien dressé Carte abordable et variésProduits locaux et frais Les - :Serveur ne propose pas d apéritif, il faut le demander Cocktail maison (sans explication) avec ou sans alcool beaucoup trop acidulé.Pas d accompagnement avec l apéritif.Mise en bouche à base d andouillette liquide, servi après l apéritif et pas de pain (Car il était à cuire)Pain servi ensuite brûlantIl faut demander pour avoir une carafe d eau.Pas de proposition de vins avec les plats.Pour l addition, le serveur vous expédie dans l entré. Et il revient 5 minutes après pour vous donner le ticket.Nous sommes déçu de la prestation du service heureusement que les plats sont bon .
