I have the north shore shrimp that was crispy, sweet and with the cocks still smeared. the soße reminded me of a sweet and sour sauce. my friend has the Hawaiian style poke dish that is raw ahi tuna. the fish was incredibly fresh (have they a secret tuna tank? and well seasoned. both were served on white rice. the waiting period was about 20 minutes for eating, but it was Friday night and a new business (only a few employees, but it was 100% worth, and the beach atmosphere was very pleasant and the waiting time for our drinks was just 5 minutes. I am looking forward to going back!
I had a great experience with the Hawaiian food from this takeout spot. The menu had a lot of fantastic options, and I've tried the katsu before. It's quite rare to find a Poke shop in this area, and while it's an unexpected find, I appreciate that it brings a taste of Hawaii to the continental U.S. This time, I ordered the Kauai chicken, and I was really impressed—it stayed wonderfully crispy even after the drive home. They did a smart thing by packing the sauce separately, so I could add it when I was ready to eat. It had a delightful combination of sweetness, spiciness, and umami saltiness that really enhanced the flavor of my rice. The portions are quite generous; even my half order turned out to be a hearty lunch!
The Google business page for this restaurant indicates that they are open on Saturdays, but they are actually closed. They seem to make plenty of money from the college nearby, so they don't feel the need to open on weekends, as noted on a sign on their door. Since I'm looking for dining options on Saturdays, this place is now off my list.
They recently raised their prices, and it's quite excessive! A bowl now costs $14.00 and a plate is $22.00. This used to be a nice spot for a light lunch, but now it's charging full meal prices for only half the portion. What a disappointment. I hate to admit it, but I don’t think I’ll be returning.
Food tastes good, but having prices blacked out and not honoring the online pricing they have is kind of messed up. We won’t be back until they can be more honest about the pricing.
