Susie Sunshine Sweets - Granville

A neat little bakery tucked in a small storefront in downtown Granville. A wide range of baked goods and Amish foods that are all very tasty and surprisingly well priced. The staff is friendly and attentive and the sweets are a treat. The store offers two lines of Amish baked goods as well as locally made items. Big and sugary! Also sell a wide range of standard beverages plus a line of Kutztown sodas which I haven't seen since I was in Lancaster, PA.

Susie excels at customizing any dessert you want. I ordered cupcakes arranged in a heart shape with whipped icing, and they were simply perfect in texture, flavor, and consistency! The presentation was also beautiful. This local shop offers a wide selection of sweet treats, including cakes, cake pops, cookies, and more, all made fresh on-site. If you're looking for a specialty dessert with a specific design, Susie can definitely meet your needs!

I visited the shop a little over an hour before closing time, so unfortunately, the selection was limited. Susie, the owner and baker, operates the entire establishment. Her small bakery specializes in wedding cakes. Interestingly, their donuts are most popular between 9 and 10 am, rather than the expected rush from 6 to 8 am. I tried a vanilla cupcake with buttercream icing. It was good, but nothing exceptional. I felt that $2.50 was a tad high for a cupcake that was smaller than many others I’ve had. Nonetheless, it's always a pleasure to visit.

I had one special request: to have at least one emoji decoration on the cupcakes for the birthday girl. Not only did Susie decorate six of them with different emojis, but she also cleverly included three cupcakes with the now-famous poop emoji, understanding what kids love these days. When I got home and announced the surprise of emoji cupcakes, my granddaughter’s eyes lit up, and she eagerly asked, "Is there poop?" It was clear how insightful Susie's choice was, and I was thrilled to see my granddaughter so delighted by my response! Meeting this amazing baking duo during pickup was a pleasure. They learned that I was new to the neighborhood and took some time to chat. Plus, they even gave me a delicious free long john to try! As for the cupcakes, the entire family praised them for being fresh, moist, and scrumptious — with perfect icing. The Buckeye flavor was particularly popular among both the kids and adults. Thanks to Susie and Brian, I felt like a hero as a grandma, the mom was happy, and my granddaughter had a truly special day!
