We ate mussels , chicken in brie and mushroom sauce with chips and salad, and chocolate mousse and an ice cream Sundae. This was all washed down with a couple of beers and more than a couple of glasses of excellent vino! The Sun was shining, we sat in the conservatory with really comfortable chairs and gorgeous surroundings overlooking the river. The waiter and waitress were really friendly, really helpful, and just generally lovely. We literally couldn’t fault this restaurant. It was the last night of our holiday, and we had the best ! night we could possibly have had. We will 100 be back !!
We went to this restaurant this weekend, we didn’t book however they were able to make space for us. Unfortunately some sort of hen party had booked a very large table at the bottom of the restaurant and were extremely loud, banging, shouting, singing and chatting for a whole 2 hours we were there! They also did the conga twice right round the restaurant and on the second occasion trampled a dog which was sat with a family, standing on the dog who looked terrified afterwards, the party took over the whole restaurant no sh*ts given! I appreciate this is not the restaurants fault, however nothing was done to attempt to calm them down the restaurant just let them get on with it ruining everyone’s meals one lady even said to me on her way out how awful the experience was. Service was very slow, got our starter and was waiting for 40 mins to have our table cleared, had a cocktail filled with sugar which would not mix and totally tasteless and the main course one of my favourites la crème mussels, very water tasteless sauce. Total shambles however lovely scenery and staff, maybe they were overwhelmed by how busy it was, however should not allow such behaviour in the face of making good from them.
Service was good and menu good. The welsh complet was excelkent. Welsh rarebit with ham and egg. You get better ratebit in northern france than in Wales these days the history of that is fascinating. The tartare saumo was also excelkent and one of the best creme brule i have tasted in a while!
Stopped here for lunch on a hot day. We had a couple of salads... they were huge and packed with all the good stuff that the menu promised. Desert was equally delicious. What really stood out here was the quality of service. The staff were on the ball and friendly... truly service with a smile. I would come again.
We enjoyed lunch at this waterfront restaurant on a sunny September day. We chose to sit in the conservatory area where it was warm enough to have the doors open making it semi-outdoors. My partner enjoyed a huge portion of moules mariniere with a generous bowl of frites. I went for a salad at 14.50 euros and was pleasantly surprised by a massive bowl heaped with prawns and a variety of smoked fish garnished with lemon and hard boiled egg. I have a strong dislike of mustard and trying to get some other kind of dressing with no mustard in it seemed to confuse them! I don't mind a tiny BIT in mayonnaise but not a full-on mustard flavoured mayo which I was offered as an alternative to a mustard vinaigrette. David couldn't possibly manage a dessert, so he passed across his chocolate mousse to me. He was eating from the 22 Euro 2 course drink set menu, but I was on a la carte. Very nice mousse topped with whipped cream. We had just small glasses of wine, which were very fairly priced compared to what you pay in UK pubs and it was good quality for what we paid. I had a Provencal rose, and David had Muscadet. Possibly a bit over-priced for what it was, but a lovely place to eat, easy parking with a disabled space right outside (we have some mobility difficulty) and excellent service. Still highly recommended. There was someone in a wheelchair in the restaurant, and the loo would be easily accessible for them. NB I think the parking may be more restricted on the quayside in high season and you may have to park further away in the town square. We didn't know it was a hotel too.
