I 've been to the loading zone many times over the years and there is a certain level of gritty scariness that it will never rise above, nor does it ever attempt to. Most of the biker customers at The Loading Zone are INDEED bikers of various levels of hard coreness in other words, NOT the guys from the Wild Hogs movie. There is now a strip club attached to the place, adding another level of genuine ambiance. The dancers and their managers filter in and out of the bar proper interchangeably, but there is a physical door separating the two establishments, theyre not technically one in the same although connected. The most recent time I went, there was a pretty decent classic rock blues rock cover band playing, no cover charge. The pints of Miller High Life I had were cold, well carbonated, and not too expensive. The female rough around the edges bard tender was far friendlier than her appearance would lead you to believe. I only gave 2 stars instead of three because there USED to be a menu that featured awesome huge burgers etc., but to my knowledge there is no food now at all. Oh, and for those of you who are not from Montana, a casino is actually a row of video Keno machines here and thats it. But some are only 5 cents a credit with adjustable speed settings, so you can get a decent gambling fix without losing your house. I personally have never had a rough time at The Loading Zone (fights, threats, etc etc), but I wont leave it out of the realm of possibility , especially if you are a douche type, a poser biker, or are short on street smarts. If you ARE a biker or dive bar enthusiast, I would indeed recommend that you check this place out at least once just to say you did. If you are NOT, and you want to go on a slumming adventure then you might find trouble and rightfully so. To sum up, The Loading Zone is something of an institution with a reputation that should be taken in if you are the right kind of character!
I came in to town with an Iranian coworker. This is a biker bar. Biker bar in a red state with an Iranian bad idea. We skedaddled post-haste with looks of death and lots of harshness mumbled toward our general direction. Decor definitely fit the crowd, might be good if you're a biker. I'm not.
Great female bartenders, always attentive to your drinks. Knows your name and you drink of choice.
Not a safe bar for women. If you choose to go outside, you have to leave your drink at a unsupervised table by the door. I and my friends have had our drinks tampered with several times because of this policy, which is why I don't go there often. Last time I was there to see a local band I like, the bouncer seemed like he was tweaking on something. He asked for our ids every time we came back in from smoking (it was a slow night, not a lot of people there) and would yell at me that I could not bring my drink outside every time I was attempting to put my drink on the table by the doors or make my way to the restroom. He even harrassed us for trying to bring water outside. The bartender finally stepped in and told him to leave us alone. Shady place with shady workers. Only thing good there are the bartenders.
Always have cheap drinks, many billard tables, slot machines and in the regular live bands at the moment I have been there. the amount is a huge mix of people and always entertaining to watch pure for people.
