The culinary experience was also top notch. Our server (Amanda? was attentive and very professional. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. This new restaurant is a great addition to Green Bay! The hotel is located on the top of the Bellin building.
I went for restaurant week and the food was really good. My favorite aspect was the wine selection and the crab cakes. The ahi tuna was also very good with the goat cheese ravioli. The only reason this was a 4 instead of a 5 was due to the fact that we had to wait about 45 mins to pay our bill. Also definately recommend the bread service which was very delicious.
Came with a group of seven, they were running a tad late for our reservation but we’re up front about it and very apologetic so that was ok. Sat at the bar for an old fashioned which was very good, kinda pricy at $12.50 but this is that kinda place. Waitress was extremely pleasant, sat us down and took order right away. Lobster bisque came out first which was very rich and creamy. Slammed right through that. Entrees came out and that’s where the confusion started. Three of us had the rib-eye. One had it rare with the crab topping and mashed potatoes. One had medium with shrimp and rice pilaf, and I had it medium with crab and mashed. Plating wasn’t done correctly, guy number 1 got his rare steak without the crab and with mashed, guy number two got his medium with crab topping and mashed and shrimp on the side. I got medium with crab and rice. Steak was excellent, crab topping on top really added to it and I would say was worth the extra $10. Was not a fan of the rice pilaf though and I wish I had the mashed I ordered. Waitress did come back with the crab topping for guy number 1 after he was done with his steak, by then he said not to worry about it. Waitress was very pleasant and helpful through all of this. Bill came and it turns out if you don’t take the salad or the soup du jour you get charged and extra $10. She did say it would be extra up front but I didn’t think I was just paying full price for the cup of soup when I was forgoing the soup or salad that came complimentary with my meal. But again, this is that kinda place, so I’m not trying to complain too much about price. All in all it was a great dining experience, the entree mix up probably was due to the size of our party, and the table that got served right before us was a group of 10 so these things do happen. If the occasion calls for it I will likely be back again.
There were three of us dining. No appetizers were ordered. We all had house salad which were drenched in dressing. The bread served was dense and lacked flavor. The waitress asked if we wanted olive oil and balsamic vinegar which we agreed to, a seasoned olive oil would have been a better option. One of us ordered the soup of the moment which was a roasted red pepper and mango which was very good. 5 oz filet was good, lemon shrimp was described as jumbo but actually was large, the panko crusted walleye had such a thick unseasoned coating that it was mushy however, the biere blanc sauce was delicious. Overall, staff was accommodating and service was good but no wow factor in any of the dishes, actually offended by the price as compared to the quality and presentation. Would not go back.
This was a special evening with my brother and wife for my birthday. We chose this restaurant randomly, for the good reviews it had. We didn 't have reservations so we understood that we would need to wait for a table. We waited an hour and half at the bar while being ignored with empty waters and wine. Once seated we immediately ordered an appetizer of crab cakes. After a long wait the salads came. My brother commented, asking shouldn 't the appetizer have come first. The waitress pulled back the salad plates and said 'do you want me to take these salads back? ' No, this was just an observation. The crab cake came about 15 minutes later. As the experience thus far had been concerning, my sister in law went to the hostess desk and asked to speak to a manager. She explained nicely the experience we were having and that this was to be a special dinner. She appealed to them to redeem the evening. The manager came to the table to apologize and tell us how 'mortified ' she was by our experience. An hour and half after being seated at a table, we received our fillets. These were flat triangle slabs of overcooked meat that, when cut, were strings of meat, served with an ice cream scoop of potatoes and 3 pieces of vegetable. I cut into the meat, and told the waitress that I am not eating this. I had had enough, and told her that this entire table needed to be comped. She grabbed the plates and left the table. The same manager returned and once again explained how mortified she was, and comped the table. After 3 hours we had eaten a salad, been served cold bread, and split a single crab cake served as the appetizer. The 3 of us, individually, have never experienced worse service, ruder servers, and a lower quality venue than this one. This experience will remain a stark memory of Green Bay at its worst.
