Big Mama's Kitchen And Catering

First time eating at Big Mama's Kitchen. The chicken was awesome! Baked perfect. The seasoning was done just right. I only wish I would have gotten 4 pieces instead of two. The mac-n-cheese tasted like it was made in-house. It had just enough cheese, and it wasn't runny or too sticky. I didn't know Big Mama's was in a sort of food court/communal dining area. Big Mama's is only a walk up window where you order/get your food. Seating was ok, but it seemed more like you were sitting in a sports bar than a restaurant. I don't know what the idea of the developers was, but driving up to Big Mama's you can't even tell there are restaurants in the building. We used Google maps that brought us into the parking lot, but from there we were just wandering around before finding Big Mama's on the second floor. The sign on the building makes it seem like there is a university cafeteria. They could have done alot better with the restaurant signage.

Amazing food! Worth the trip from South Dakota. Collard greens best since we left The South. BBQ meatball sandwich daily special was delicious! Be sure to include pickles. Catfish was clean, mild and a huge portion. Oven baked chicken was tender, moist and tasty. Cornbread muffins are light. Peach lemonade very refreshing!

It's inside essentially a food court, so it feels a bit institutional. My friend had their Fried Chicken and I had a fried catfish sandwich. My sandwich was a huge fillet on a good size bun with, I believe, pickles, tomatoes and mayonnaise. Various options available for the sides, I chose seasoned fries. My friend hsd sweet potato pudding which she liked. The cookbook pictured had a lot of interesting recipes in it and it appears fairly easy to find on the used Market. They had a peach lemonade that was also quite good.

Oh boy the food was great would definitely recommend the fish! And the Mac and cheese!

On suggestion from Omaha food lovers group on Facebook we tried Big Momma's today. I went online and ordered so it would be ready by the time we made the drive up to Omaha. It had just come out of the oven when we arrived. I had ordered the four piece gluten free oven fried chicken and a four piece regular oven fried chicken. Fried Chicken is one of the things that I miss so badly since I had covid 3 years ago and all my allergies have changed again and now I am allergic to wheat. This is the first time I've had fried chicken in 3 years. Totally different than what I'm used to but it's very good I would definitely suggest trying it if you're gluten free. I was told the non gluten-free was really good as well.
