Got the pepian chicken if there is a national dish in Guatemala it is this one. The sauce was kind of gelled and bland, lacking the complex toasted spice I love which define the dish. It was nice to have an authentic Guatemalan beer, though. The Guatemalan tortillas were fresh and tasty, too. (Very different from Mexican tortillas. These folks need to ask their grandmothers for a recipe or two and try a little harder. And they could be a little less aloof.
I usually like to leave good comments about the places I visit. This place unfortunately needs 1. New management and staff or 2. Close. Guatemalan food is delicious and at this place they are committing a crime by offering Guatemalan food the way they do. A restaurant is something serious and you should employ people who have knowledge of gastronomy and especially the type of food they are offering to the public and not think that you can sell food for the sake of selling. The place needs a lot of improvement: 1. Cleaning 2. Organization 3. Decoration 4. Concept 5. Customer service 6. Presentation 7. Knowledge of Guatemalan gastronomy 8. Food preparation 9. Menu presentation 10. Presentation of the dishes This is mentioning some of the main points that need to be corrected immediately from my point of view.
The food was good. We loved the guacamole dip. It was very fresh and had the perfect flavor.
