However, there was something comforting about being a part of the hustle and bustle of this beautiful area once again. We wandered through the bustling market, past the historic Cutty Sark, and up to Coomb's Hill where my wife's childhood home still stood. Our leisurely walk took us past the Queen's House, the Royal Hospital, and back down to the river, where we enjoyed fresh whelks from a local seafood stall. Every local pub seemed to offer fresh seafood on Sundays, with whelks being a particularly special treat. Unable to find the exact stall we were looking for, we turned to Google and were delighted to discover a hidden gem in the beer garden of the Lord Hood pub. Peter, the owner of the stall, greeted us warmly and shared his passion for fishing, as he expertly shucked fresh oysters and served up a delicious assortment of shellfish. Paired with a crisp Sauvignon Blanc from the pub, our impromptu seafood feast was a highlight of our trip. While we enjoyed a more upscale dinner later that evening, it was our casual meal at the Lord Hood pub that left a lasting impression. The honest, friendly atmosphere, combined with incredible seafood and good company, made for a memorable experience. Thank you for the memories, Greenwich. We will certainly be back.
