The calamari entree was decent, with a reasonable portion that we split between the two of us. However, the Cannelloni was disappointing - a small tube filled with ricotta and spinach, topped with a dry tomato sauce and served with only a small portion of salad leaves. The serving size was a letdown even for someone like me who doesn't eat much. My partner's pasta was just average. Overall, for the price, everything was underwhelming. Adding a second cannelloni and a bit more sauce wouldn't have cost much but it would have made a big difference in our experience and potentially retained us as future customers.
I'm not an expert for Italian restaurants in Canberra, but Antica Ricetta must be there with the best. Sunday evening in winter so not many customers, but the service was exceptional and the food was very, very good. Loved the...Buffalo mozarella on the Bruschetta Caprese. The Tortelini Bologna was just right and the chocolate cakes have removed everything. Better to book than Friday and Saturday nights, even in winter, must be very busy
Then flew in to take Margarita Pizza and Pasta and was told to me my duck Tortello would take 30 minutes. came back 25 minutes later and saw that my duck Tortello was ready. That was 25 minutes while I was waiting for a margarita... Pizza. Pizza took 45 minutes to make and Ente Tortello was cold and gluggy $52 to the family wait 45 minutes for a Margarita pizza and **** cold Gluggy Ente Tortello...
Our experience at Antica Ricetta tonight was a bit disappointing, despite previous positive visits. Despite booking in advance, we were seated outside on a chilly 7 degree evening which was uncomfortable. The service was slow and we had to constantly seek the attention of the staff. The staff seemed to be more focused on chatting at the front counter rather than attending to the customers. We were not welcomed upon arrival and had to wait outside while our booking was confirmed, which felt impolite. The antipasto plate was overpriced for the small portion we received, lacking in bread and variety. The pasta dishes were decent but not outstanding, with those who ordered ravioli left feeling unsatisfied. The desserts were the highlight of the meal, offering a good variety at reasonable prices. Despite this, the indifferent service means we will not be returning.
We were looking forward to this family birthday dinner....what a disappointment. Service was so slow we had to get up several times to get drinks! When the food finally arrived (after two enquiries as to when dinner would be served), three out of six dishes...were inedible! Lucky the olives and the wine were good. Not a reply or word from the chef in response. The staff had no problem in taking 3 courses off the bill without hesitation (probably because you can get the same ingredients from the supermarket)! My advice...give it a miss unless you want a near decent takeaway pizza.
