I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the dishes and the cozy atmosphere. The food was well prepared, craftsmanship in the kitchen. The service was smooth and very attentive. Motivated students, fun. Although the dishes were visually appealing and the flavors well balanced, I felt there was room for a little more spice. A slightly higher flavor intensity would take the already good dishes to a higher level. All in all, De Markies offers a wonderful culinary experience that I would definitely recommend to others. With a small adjustment in the flavor intensity, this restaurant could undoubtedly rank among the top in Groningen. Nice place with a good price/quality ratio. Not too large a card, which I personally like very much. The dishes taste good! The staff is friendly and there is a pleasant atmosphere.

Atmosphere is good and relaxed, service is uncertain and doesn't know anything about the food if you ask. The food itself price-quality ratio is severely overrated. For the effort. We eat here quite frequently. Came here with my parents as it was one of the few restaurants open on a Sunday evening, and it's a stonthrow from our house. Amazing, delicious food. Great wine. Excellent and friendly service with humour, which is always a plus. The atmosphere is also fantastic. We were so sad when de Markies closed and Eetcafé de Stadstuin opened in its place (we never ate there). But absolutely extatic when it reopened a few years later, all be it under a different owner. It really suits the surroundings much better. Can definitely recommend it!
