Waitress reported that this is still a best kept secret. Homemade soups, about the freshest and most delicious salads we've eaten. Outdoor seating on a lovely patio. Loved every bite.
We celebrated my bridal shower here, outside of the activity center in the large tent. I can't say enough how wonderfully amazing everything was ESPECIALLY the FOOD. Wow!!!!! The chef went above and beyond to not only serve the most excellent selections but he even catered to our special requests. The Monte Cristo sandwich was phenomenal. Everyone raved about the food and overall atmosphere. It couldn't have been any more perfect from the Mimosa Bar to the delicious array of salads, fruits, sandwiches... all of it. They honestly did an amazing job I have nothing negative to say. If you're interested in doing an outdoor bridal or baby shower brunch the Activity Center/Costwold Cafe is the place to have it!
Second time here in one year and it was BETTER this time around!! Beautiful location, on the grounds of the Edsel and Eleanor Ford Estate in Grosse Pointe Shores, and a wonderful place to walk after dining. Nice selection of entrees and sides. They also have a beer and wine selection and take out!
CLOSED. It's disappointing because I was really looking forward to visiting this place. The security guard at the Ford property mentioned that there is some construction happening, but it has been closed for quite some time now. However, tours of the estate are still available.
Additionally, the quality of the food has declined. The chicken pot pie, which used to be delicious with lots of carrots and gravy, was a letdown this time. It consisted of just a bit of chicken, a few potatoes, and hardly any gravy. Frankly, I've had frozen chicken pot pie that tasted better. The perch dinner came cold, and the fish was dry, with the only warm dish being the soup. I don’t know if the restaurant is under new management or if they have a new cook, but we won’t be returning unless we hear that improvements have been made. The location is lovely in our neighborhood (we're lifelong residents of Grosse Pointe), and we will definitely visit the Ford House again, but the restaurant—well, not so much.
