The service at the Alpina Lounge Bar was top-notch. The staff were attentive and friendly, always ready to make recommendations or mix up a custom cocktail. Speaking of cocktails, the ones at the Alpina Lounge Bar are simply divine. Whether you're in the mood for something classic or more adventurous, the bartenders here will make sure you're satisfied. But it's not just the drinks that make the Alpina Lounge Bar so special. The bar also serves a variety of delicious small plates that are perfect for sharing with friends or enjoying on your own. I particularly enjoyed the charcuterie board, which was loaded with a variety of meats, cheeses, and accoutrements.
Okaki Spargel, Kanzuri Crevette, Vegi Reis.
Had a pre-dinner drink in the lounge and never really felt comfortable there as soon as we arrived. Firstly, server wanted to put us in a crowded couch area, but we refused as wasn’t premium offering we imagined, so decided to sit at the bar. Seats bar looked great but so uncomfortable as you slid off the seats (we are both quite tall but had to anchor ourselves). Again, not what we expected so we eventually moved ourselves to a lone table but really was counting down the minutes until we could go into the 1* Michelin restaurant (separate review). As you would expect, drinks in the bar are equivalent to New York City with a glass of wine 22 CHF and a beer at 16 CHF. Not a great experience at all IMO.
The nice thing about Megu is that they stay open till 3pm for lunch rather than the usual 2pm. The restaurant is situated inside Alpine hotel and the outdoor seating are nice if the weather permit. Overall I was a bit disappointed given I had much better Japanese food for less money. Maybe because it's in Switzerland and in a hotel that's why the pricy a bit high. If the prices were average I would rate it 4 stars but for the prices I expected more tasteful food. We started with the crispy asparagus and the vegetable tempura. The crispy asparagus presentation was beautiful but both dishes were standard. The crab salad was way below average. It had a weird citrusy taste that really ruined it. As for the main dishes the sea bass and the crispy spyder Maki were better than the starters. Finally we finished off with alpine coupe. The alpine coupe was mostly whipped cream which we are not a big fans off. Would rather get an extra scoop of ice cream. Overall would not recommend driving all the way to dine here unless you are staying in the hotel and feeling lazy in leaving. Here are my ratings: Crispy asparagus: 7/10 Veggie tempura: 7/10 Crab salad: 5.5/10 Seabass: 8/10 Spinach as side: 8/10 Spyder Maki: 8/10 Alpine coupe: 7/10
