El Cargol is a lovely little haven in a busy area of the city. The chalkboard menu lists home cooked Catalan favourites seafood, rabbit, sobrasada, pan con tomate and they have some excellent Spanish wines. We particularly enjoyed the salads; fresh, crisp and a...nice antidote to a surfeit of Mexican food! It's worth asking about veggie options too they produced escalivada for me and kindly adapted another dish. Prices are very reasonable (especially for this part of town) and it's a pretty, wood panelled restaurant. We had a chat with the owners and they clearly take a genuine pride in cooking good food and looking after their customers. Highly recommended!
Stopped here on a business trip and I can't say enough great things! The food is authentic Spanish cuisine, the wine was plentiful and the service was out of this world! I urge everyone to stop in and try El Cargol; you will be very...very happy!
After eating tortillas for days our group decided to switch to European. Authentic Spanish cuisine seems like a natural switch. We were greeted by a wonderful host owner. The menu was on a chalk board because all items are cooked fresh and change daily ....We decided on paella negra and rabbit. Both were excellent. The wine selection was from Spain and not expensive. The desserts were wonderful. The experience was outstanding. ....if you want true Spanish in Mexico El Cargol will make you smile.
One star for being nice Zero stars for food. Went for breakfast since our hotel was down the block. We ordered waffles and bacon and what we got was frozen Eggo waffles that were cool with hard butter and microwaved bacon. So awful just even...looking at it and then trying to explain why we weren't pleased in a restaurant where no one spoke English or could understand our Spanish was worse. So we got up and left.
