The hotel itself does have a lovely view and has interesting design features (as a former presidential estate), but the pros end about there. The hotel actually has only 6 rooms so it's almost more like a bed and breakfast than a hotel or even a boutique hotel. The weird thing is, notwithstanding that they seem to have a dozen or more staff members, half of them are unusually unwelcoming and/or you can't find someone when you need them! We went down for breakfast in the morning and literally searched all over the restaurant for someone that worked there and couldn't find them, so had to go back up to reception to ask them to contact the restaurant people so we could eat. Later we also found out our breakfast wasn't included, as it typically is, so the "sale" fare we got on Orbitz was really just cheaper because they didn't give us breakfast. Yeah, we should have looked more closely at our booking details, but my point here is, the place is EXPENSIVE. We paid about 50% more here than other hotels we stayed at that were more beautiful, had better staff and included breakfast! While the room had some interesting design details, it also had some issues, probably from being a bit old and expensive to maintain. For instance, the bathroom had a really unpleasant smell that just seemed to emanate from the drains. Also, they had ironic signs up about saving water by not letting the faucets drip even though I had to leave the water in the shower on for like 5-6 minutes before it got anywhere above freezing. Staying here just for the views is definitely not worth it. Maybe eating here would be - our breakfast was fine, nothing special, and expensive for local prices. But definitely don't stay here.
The view from our room was worth it .... I'm use to a little bit more luxury but cant complain for the price, the rooms are huge everything was super clean. Trip was 4 girls and we thought we were the only ones in the hotel not to many people if you want more party have to go don't to the jardin area this place is great for couples for sure more on the romantic side. The food was excellent.
Went to dinner with coworkers while traveling for work. The server was attentive and allowed us to choose which table we wanted to sit at. The view was breathtaking. We ordered the appetizer sampler platter and shared it amongst the five of us. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal of chicken enchiladas. Would definitely recommended dining here with coworkers, family, friends or couples.
Great place for an awesome view and good food. The restaurant is inside an hotel, but there shouldn't be any problem getting service. The views are of all of Guanajuato and really spectacular.I ate here twice and was pleased with multiple plates. The food seemed really authentic. First day i had some chicken mole that was good, and my GF had some pulled pork that was very good. Day two i had this huge brotonsaurus sized pork thigh with bone with some awesome dark sauce.Another note, when you get there, you may be the only ones there, as this place seems satisfied serving to the 3-4 hotel guests it has. The meals do take a while to cook, maybe they start a lot from scratch idk. Worth a trip. Really close to El Pipila statue if you're already up there.
Food wasn't that great but the view of Guanajuato at night is absolutely Breath taking. The restaurant premises used to be a private house owned by one of Mexico's president, that was donated to him by the governor. Way overpriced but you pay for the view ! Worth a visit.
