I let the cook/server who treated my order know that I never had to wait so long in the past and the restaurant probably did not want to apply again. his posture was a curious mix of apology and rudeness, which explains that they were short-served and offer a discount in recognition of my last visit. eating that, I must say, was of acceptable quality as always, but the entire customer experience had a certain fawlty towers feeling. but not amusing wise. in previous reviews, it seems that the place in past has changed hands, the service was never a problem, even during the busiest services. the owners must have a good look at their customer service standards and possibly staff levels. I live to go back there.
We had made a reservation and arrived on time for our Valentine's Day dinner, but we experienced a fifteen-minute wait to speak to staff and another wait to be seated despite the restaurant being less than half full. The tablecloth was dirty and not set with any crockery, cutlery, or condiments, so we requested for this to be addressed when we ordered our drinks and meal. We ordered two mixed drinks, sang choy bow entree for two, braised steak with cashews and boneless lemon chicken as main dishes, along with boiled rice and special fried rice. Despite reminding the waiter about the tablecloth and table setting, nothing was done. Our entree arrived without proper plates, cutlery, or chopsticks. When our main dishes were served, they were cold, and the braised steak was inedible due to the amount of gristle. We complained to the waiter about the cold food and missing items, but only received a small portion of boiled rice and the boneless lemon chicken after reheating the main dishes. The quality of food and service has drastically declined from when the original owner was running the restaurant. We ultimately left feeling unsatisfied and ill, suspecting the food may have contained excessive MSG. It was a disappointing experience.
I went to the restaurant on Saturday and ordered the braised king prawns, BBQ pork Szechuan style (hot), a large special fried rice, and steamed Chinese vegetables. The food was absolutely fantastic, but I realized I was no longer buying for two because my beautiful Rita had left me. The total cost was discounted, perhaps for the sadness in my eyes. The BBQ pork could use some chilli or Szechuan sauce. The vegetables were a godsend and I won't get scurvy. The food was great and I will definitely be back.
Some of the spits like shredded peking steak was delicious. we ordered a grilled dish with creamed sauce and we were brought a grilled curry that was mediocre to say the least. her statement was that this court is better than what we ordered! will not go back
This restaurant is our way to the Chinese food place and has been for several decades. Please note that the restaurant stockland mall is now closed and is currently handed over to a new address in arthur st.
