I have been a regular customer for more than a decade and can confidently say that the coffee and cakes here are the best around - you can't go wrong. Despite being popular, the cozy layout upstairs always has space to accommodate more customers, and the staff handle busy periods with grace and humor. The cafe is very dog-friendly, which is a nice touch, making it feel like a comfortable living room inside a historic building. Whether I am bringing friends to Pinnocks or enjoying a book in the upstairs library, I always feel welcome here, no matter how crowded it gets. I highly recommend a visit to this wonderful spot.
Excellent morning coffee and breakfast stop. Set in a listed building keeping most of its original features makes it quirky we had good coffees and breakfast porridge and pancakes. Would definitely come back.
We make a point to stop at this restaurant for lunch four or five times a year when traveling from Peterborough to Southsea. It is a well-liked establishment that tends to get busy during lunchtime. The atmosphere is always pleasant, and the service, as well as the quality of food and drinks, are consistently excellent. During our visit on January 4th, we enjoyed a delicious soup, smoked salmon baguette, and coffee. Everything was fantastic.
Had a really bad experience at this place I got there just after they opened and the water boiler was not on yet and had to wait 15 minutes before I could order this could have been the boiler playing up so I can let them off. They have a huge selection of coffee beans so I was looking forward to trying one the one I picked said it had a caramel taste, this coffee came in a plastic cup and tasted awful. I only paid £3.30 for this coffee and I was surprised as the price when I payed as I would expect to pay more when you are being offered different types of coffee. I ordered one of there home made sausage rolls if my coffee didn’t taste like puddle water i would have finished it by the time my roll came as it took 25 minutes to come out, the sausage roll was not that great had a soggy pastry on the bottom and I left half off it it cost around £4. Every one around me seemed to enjoy the cakes but it was 9am and I didn’t not fancy that but I guess I made a mistake. Not worth a visit I could have just been on a bad day as the reviews seem rate this place and that was the reason I visited. Just to clarify I come for a long line of Italian coffee drinkers : so please believe me when I say the coffee sucked and the plastic cup it came in does not help, the plastic cup probably has 100 other different coffees soaked into.
Called in after a walk at RHS Wisley. We both had hot home made sausage rolls (made that morning) with small leaf salad. Choice of strength of coffee beans for cappachino and my husband had a hot chocolate. Lovely comfy sofas upstairs, felt snug and warm after very cold walk. Lovely to have food and drinks brought to the table rather than queuing at Wisley and less choice there too.
