Great service, friendly staff, and wonderful cakes. We?ve been coming here for years for birthdays, holidays (and often for no occasion at all! ???? We can?t recommend Take the Cake enough!

My wife and I am sad to see the less than stellar reviews but our experience has been nothing but exceptional in our ten+ years as customers. We've tried all their cakes but are hooked on the Purcell. In our experience, these are the best cake bakers inConnecticut. Their scones and cookies are delicious too.

I called last week to order a cake for a birthday. The owner said the bakery would not be open the week after Easter but said she could make the cake and I could pick it up at 10:30 am on 4/11. I got to the bakery at 10:15 and stayed for half an hour. She never showed up. What a waste of time. You lost a customer.

Back in 2017, I would have given this place 5 stars. I am giving it 3 stars because they WERE amazing...but what happened today is baffling. My mom and I drove over an hour to Take the Cake in Guilford to pick up a cake for a dear friend's birthday. I placed the order over a week ago and confirmed on Wednesday that I would be here after 10:00am today. We arrived at 10:30am and no one was here. We waited for almost an hour and watched as other customers came and went, including a woman who had placed an order to be picked up, and the owner had said she would be there by 10:00am. I called 12 times and sent messages on Facebook and Instagram...no response. This is very inconsiderate to your customers, Take the Cake...and it breaks my heart because you have been my favorite bakery since my wedding in April 2017...and you made an unforgettable cake. What happened?

So Glad to see they are still around. My friends and I used to have dinner together a few times a week whenever it was my turn to bring dessert that was where I went without fail.
