My French is not great, but we try and everywhere else we were copied in France for the last 10 holidays with my Dodgy accent. But the surly teen waitress struggled to understand Margharita pizza... this is the same in English as French! We ordered 3 times from the pre-printed tablecloth menu that was huge before we actually close to what we demanded....and they didn't need trouble.... it was terrible. Obviously vac-packed and prepared and reheated (bad) it was practically unusable. We had to ask about the bill three times, and it never came....eventual I went to the bar to pay. It is also not as cheap, it was about the same price as the fantastic Le Chef Est Une Femme, which is 50m away.... do yourself a favor and go instead...
Interestingly-named restaurant with some interesting dishes. went as a couple, my choice of suckling pig was serendipitous; truly delicious soft meat and crackling my reward for being adventurous. My wife had a very decent duck breast and chips. My only point of dissatisfaction...why can't we...get two veg anywhere in France? all in all I'd recommend this place for families and couples, very fairly priced.
Service was very good. The waitress spoke English that helped a lot. She was very helpful. Food was excellent. My first time eating Escargot. Very relaxing place to eat. It was great. Family friendly.
In August 2016, my husband and I went to this restaurant with my daughter, her husband and my two grandchildren. My daughter and my husband celebrated their wedding anniversary and because we had vacation together, they decided it would be nice for all of us to celebrate together. Vache sur le toit looked like a place where we could relax with children (ages 4 and 7). It was the worse experience I ever had in a restaurant. The service was cruel. My daughter and I waited 1 hour 30 minutes for our main course and it was practically thrown at us. My daughter ordered a risotto, but what she got was a large bowl of sticky rice thrown into her with a few pieces. It was tasteless and not even vaguely resembled a risotto. When my husband told the waiter that it would not look like a risotto or taste, one would come in Italy, he was very sharply said that we were not in Italy, but in France. We ordered a bottle of Bordeaux wine that came to the table as it came from a refrigerator. My husband (who is French and knows his wines) told the waiter who insisted that it had come from her cellars and was at the right temperature. We sent it back and they managed to make it wonderful to bring one that was at the right temperature. The restaurant was very busy and we would have accepted a certain delay, but the staff hiring was very much a case to take it or leave it. They felt that they only barked on the tourists and frankly 't gave a damn. Very short on site as these facilities depend on tourists who come back, and neither we or any of our friends will go again near this place. What meant to be a very enjoyable celebrity turned out to be a disaster due to the fact that this was the last night of our holidays. Please note La Vache sur le toit that you are in the hospitality industry and your customers are your life. Curtesy should be the top of your list when it comes to the public and you may even be awarded for some very mediocre foods. Wake up.
This restaurant is friendly and with good food at reasonable prices. We struggle to find vegetarian options in France, so we were pleasantly surprised that they had vegetarian pizzas and the waiter also spoke English helped me to ask for a tomato-based pasta dish that was delicious. Very good.
