The food is delicious! I found the Injera to be quite tasty, though some others mentioned it didn't quite have the authentic flavor of true Ethiopian Injera. If you're in the area, definitely treat yourself!
The food at this restaurant is outstanding. There's nothing cozier than spending late hours here with friends, enjoying great food and good conversations. The service is remarkable, and the drinks are always served cold. Be sure to try the items on the shaded menu!
Hands down the best food I've ever had, in my life. Authentic, delicious Ethiopian food, attentive lovely staff, and a great local vibe. 20/10 recommend
Abyssinia is the best and only remaining Ethiopian restaurant in Gulu. It has ample seating both indoor and outdoor and the food is usually a 15-30 minute wait. If you are one or two people, get the half-special. It will cost you UGX12,000 and be enough to feed most folks. My younger self bicycling 40 miles a day would finish a full special myself. If you are a voracious eater, consider the challenge. Tibs, goro, and even the spaghetti are particularly good. The sauce comes with or without meat, giving vegetarians that rare flexibility. Get here, grab a beer, and enjoy an end of day dinner with friends.
