My wife and I were in town during a long weekend. We decided on having dinner at a spot with a view of the lake and settled on Top O? The River. The place was bustling when we arrived however we were sat immediately after arriving and our waitress quicklytook our drink orders. After a few minutes, our waitress returned and took our dinner order. I ordered The Riverboat Special andmy wife ordered a steak with a baked potato. My catfish was hot, crispy and delicious but my wife felt her steak was a bit overcooked and she mentioned that it wasn?t seasoned. Overall, our experience at Top O?The River was good but not great.
All I can say is wow!!! This restaurant is so nice. It sits right in front of the river, which makes eating here more pleasurable. You can look at the river while you're eating your dinner. This restaurant is nestled in beautiful GuntersvilleAlabama, my home town. Now let's get to the customer service, it was awesome!!! Our waitress was friendly and attentive!! Thefood, it was delicious and hot!!! I enjoyed every bite!!! They give you plenty of it to!!! They serve a small cast iron skilletof cornbread and coleslaw in a little tin kettle, along with pickled onions while you wait for your entrée. I will definitelybe going back there, and I'm so glad I'm moving back here.
This is my all time favorite so far. The wait was a little long to get in,but, man it was worth it. The fried catfish was delicious. Also came with a personal skillet of cornbread, slaw, hush puppies and your choice of fries or baked potato. And ofcourse sweet tea. So much food. All delicious and reasonably priced. If you can stand the wait, you definitely need to go. Youwon't be sorry.
View is beautiful. The food is always delicious. The staff is always friendly. Worth the drive. The mustard greens and slaw are a must. It is a 50/50 shot if you get upset tummy or not on the way back home. Not many gas stations. But it is worth it everytime lol
