They didn't speak a ton of English, so someone went the extra mile and called their daughter to translate that the crab is served raw to make sure that I agreed. The service was really extraordinary and welcoming, even for a few idiotic foreigners who don't speak Korean. The raw crab in soy sauce from the lunch menu was a bit difficult to eat, but incredibly delicious. I suggest getting it after a course of KBBQ.
If you want to eat delicious Korean food, it is a good restaurant.
Arirang is one of my favorite restaurants in Seoul. It's a hidden gem kind of place where local Koreans go for a good casual lunch or dinner. It's nothing fancy, in fact it's very basic, but the food is great and the prices can't be beat in the area. On a typical 30 day visit to Korea, I usually eat 15 or 20 of the 90 meals at this cozy little place. I always leave fully satisfied and the cost for 2 people is generally under $30, which is about 1 tenth what I pay at the local upscale buffets that lure foreign travelers. Their best dishes are Doen-jang chi-gae, dol-sot bi-bim-bap and neng-myun in the summer or spicy noodles in the winter. They don't speak much English, but you can get by even if you can't speak Korean. Whether you are a local or a foreign traveler, I suggest you give it a try. One caution, however, it doesn't have much that would appeal to American kids. Korean kids eat there, but tastes are probably a little too exotic for American kids.
Food is excellent. Very recommended.
맛은 좋고 서비스는 좋지만 비싸다.
