Black Lion - Gwynedd

I had visited this restaurant a few years ago, and I must say that this time around it was even better. I didn't expect things to be the same after all this time, but the atmosphere was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The food was fresh, hot, and absolutely delicious. If I lived nearby, this would definitely be my go-to spot for meals. Well done, Black Lion - we will definitely be back sooner rather than later.

During our annual trip from Scotland to this part of Wales, my group of 4 adults and 1 child booked a table at the Black Lion. It was just as good, if not better than our previous visit as a couple in July 2022. This quaint restaurant has parking just outside and gives off a cozy, homey atmosphere. With only a few tables, seating around 25 diners, they stagger bookings to ensure prompt and fresh service. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, making our experience even more enjoyable. The food was absolutely delicious and portions were generous - the pate starter was particularly filling. We highly recommend the burgers and the desserts were also a hit, keeping our 10-year-old happy. Overall, it's a lovely place but can be tricky to book since they are closed most days of the week and phone signal in the area is weak. I had to use messenger to contact them. Hopefully they will implement an online booking system as we look forward to returning next year.

My partner and I had an amazing dinner at this restaurant. We ordered the sharing platter which was fresh, filling, and fabulous. I also ordered a pizza but couldn't finish it because the platter was so good. I was disappointed because everything was homemade. We made sure to save room for dessert and the orange chocolate was incredible. The team was welcoming and the service was excellent. The waitress even checked in to make sure everything was okay when I couldn't finish my pizza. The venue was cozy and inviting. Overall, it was a perfect night out. We will definitely be returning. I can't understand how anyone could leave a less than stellar review, the food here is delicious!

We visited on a Saturday night. Warm, cosy pub with friendly quick service. Great choice on the menu. We shared the popcorn chicken and calamari cheese balls to start, the Black Lion burger scampi for main and couldn't leave without getting a takeaway biscoff...cheesecake! Couldn't fault the food or service at all. Tastiest meal we've had in a long time, we haven't stopped talking about it since we put our knives and forks down! Will definitely be returning next time we're in the area will be recommending to everyone. Thanks!

Lovely traditional pub situated in a beautiful area. The staff are friendly, the food is delicious and the general atmosphere is warm. We would definitely recommend this pub to anyone. There isn’t a lot of parking outside the pub but, there are a lay-bys/lanes you...can park on close by. There is a path along side the road too, so it’s safe and easy to get there if you can’t park right outside the door. Overall experience was great.
