On my way from Franz Josef Fox to Queenstown, I stopped at Haast township After having talked to a local, The Hard Antler was highly recommended to me, being described to be as the get together place in town I decided to give it a shot, and upon entering I immediately felt it was indeed the best place in town, with a very local vibe, through the decoration and people I could feel the friendly vibe going around, it was obvious most people patrons were regulars, but I also felt welcome as a stranger They offer for and drinks, but also have TV screens playing sports, billard, darts... I was well hungry, noticed their venison burgers, wasn't sure which one to choose, and asked for recommendation, and hence went for the hard antler version. It was super super yummy and filling (it included 2 meat patties, and it came with plenty of fries) Nathan at the bar was super friendly, even helping me befriend locals and get a place to stay Oh and they have lots of touristic leaflets at the entrance Indeed a must if you're staying in town, but also highly recommended if you were driving through Haast PS: kitchen usually closes around 8-9, but as a bar it stays open longer, depending of people in

Best chips ever. Seasoned to perfection, crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. Would certainly come back for more!
