While there weren't many vegan options (or in my case, dairy-free alternatives), I had the chicken and avocado rösti, which was amazing. The presentation was also impressive! Others at the table ordered the eggs Florentine and frankfurter, which looked great. For dessert, we picked some beautiful cakes. I chose the carrot and walnut cake, which is dairy-free, and there was also a vegan chocolate cake available. The other dessert options looked fantastic as well. They even provide milk alternatives for hot drinks.
This was our first time visiting Falko since they relocated from Gullane to Haddington. It’s a fantastic spot along the high street, and it has a lovely outdoor seating area when the sun is shining. The service was excellent and prompt, with plenty of staff on hand. We ordered eggs Benedict, while the kids had a cheese toasty and some black pudding. The coffees were well-made and beautifully presented.
I decided to visit Falkos a little early after they sourced their sourdough from two different locations. From the outside, the place looked inviting, and inside it resembled a café nestled within an antique shop. There was a silver teapot next to our table priced at £35. I decided to hold off on brunch for now. I tried the eggs benedict, while my companion had the chicken and avocado rösti. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. The rösti was light and slightly gooey in the center, while the chicken and avocado were cooked perfectly and tasted great. Afterward, I couldn’t resist trying the cake, which featured Swiss nuts. It was intriguing and beautifully presented, but slightly dry; it could have benefited from a little something extra on the side. Overall, I had a very pleasant experience.
Really charming Scottish tea room experience. the cakes are a step above the usual. do not expect that tray bakers here it is very obvious that these cakes are lovingly made in the house to a high standard. expect a good selection for the vegan and gluten-free as well. on the way out they get a house made laaf for home. all seats are in the ground floor and enough space for a wheelchair or two. toilet with a sliding door on the back, narrow for a wheelchair but manageable. they must observe their children with these cake covered hands! a stop on sunny afternoon.
Lovely find very friendly staff, loads of cakes, amazing interior, and fab outdoor seating in the sunshine.
