The toast had been made earlier and was cold the margarine, not butter, was slathered on like frosting. The coffee bitter and lukewarm. A friend went there for lunch the burger he had was dry the fries were average. All in all not a very good experience. He had a to go order and ate two bites and disposed of it. When I was there for breakfast the owner stood at our table and could clearly see that I had scraped the margarine off the cold toast and that when his waiter cleared the table that I had not taken more than one bite from my plate. He made no attempt to ask about the quality or the reason I had not eaten the food or drank the coffee.
The moose caboose is right on main street easy to find. The owner is very friendly with lots of great stories from his past. The food is the best BBQ I have found in Alaska! The ribs and burgers are of the charts

Brunch was exactly what I was looking for. I ordered a cheese omelet and it was so big that I had half of it left over to take home. It oozed with real cheddar- yum! Service was fast and courteous and prices were quite reasonable for Haines. Coffee was strong, which is an important criteria for me. I despise see-through coffee. The atmosphere is open and fun, and I can see how this would be a great place to hang out for a while or have a business lunch (or brunch, in my case). Thanks also for being open during winter! I am looking forward to trying his burgers and meat next- since that what he is known for in Skagway.
