Gus and Francine have fabulous plans for the whole property and really care about doing it right. After experiencing this place I have no doubt that they will. In the meantime, go enjoy some great food (they try to keep it local as well which is great) and great service!
My husband and I rarely go a weekend without making a visit to the Dunnville Doslea for an early morning breakfast. We never had the chance to eat here under the old ownership, and by reading some of the reviews, I think it's a good thing we didn't. By my understanding, and seeing the weekly renovations, I can tell this place is in for a magnificent lift! There is a wide variety for breakfast and it comes in a timely manner. My husband and I have been there more than our fair share, that they actually have our orders mesmerized. What can I say, we like our breakfast! The cherry on the cake is the service! I have never had a bad experience; they are all amazingly friendly, and the family-atmosphere of the place adds to character and charm! We have recommended the Dunnville Doslea to all of our friends and family. Check this place out! You will not regret it.
I used to go here with the the old ownership. Not fancy. A bit run down. But the food was always good. New ownership. Some work being done as time and money permits. I get it. But they have to pay attention to the food. I had the 333. Nothing was done well. The eggs had shell in it. (it happens. A bit startling to bite into. But not life threatening.) The home fries were bland. They looked well seasoned but it didn't come through. The breakfast sausages were like most places. They taste like styrofoam. My bad for ordering them. The ham was just OK. Too salty and dry.The Rye toast was just OK. And I mean. This is toast. But it had to have been the end of a loaf....small dry. The worst part was the bacon. And you never screw with the bacon! It was probably pre-cooked a bit (common practice for speed) but this tasted old. Or frozen too long or something. The coffee is quite good. The best suggestion is for the cook to start eating here. They have to taste what they are serving. The service is fast and friendly. Others at this table faired better than I did. It's obvious they are trying. And they asked if everything was OK. But I didn't have the heart to tell him how bad it was. It would have been a very difficult conversation. I'll try them again in a few months to see if this was a one off. Hopefully I can enjoy coming here again.
Great breakfast place! The food was wonderful and the people very friendly! We will be back! Portions were a good size and the food was fast to our table! Food was nice and hot when it came out!
