Jean's Restaurant - Halifax

I travel 150km just to get the best chinese food in Nova Scotia. I usualy get Take-out and take it home with me . There Chicken Fried rice and Jeans Chicken is the best.

This had to be the most disapointing meal in a long time. after driving around the core trying to get parked(good luck with that) we went to jeans. Microwaved slop was what was being served yesterday. poor,poor,poor

Jane is just right you know? She's there for you no matter what and would never let her bro down. Straight up ride or die. Don't ever take Jane for granted.

I have to say, I like dinner here better than lunch. I got a lunch special once, and it tasted like it might have been sitting there for a minute. But the DINNER is SUPERB. I've had the General Tao chicken and the chicken lo mein. I'm from the southern US, and they make Lo Mein there with a thicker, udon-style noodle. In Halifax, if you can find Lo Mein, it seems to be made with angel hair, so that's different, but the flavour is excellent. Also, the portion was FREAKING HUGE. I took half of it home and had it for lunch. They also give you fortune cookies, another thing a lot of Halifax Chinese restaurants don't do. We also got a carry-out Beef and Broccoli which arrived right as we were finishing up our meals, so excellent timing. They do tend to bring out individuals' plates as they get ready instead of timing everything to arrive together, so that can be a little disconcerting, but the bottom line is: cheap, delicious, plentiful.

We have been going to Jean's for many years and highly recommend the restaurant. The place is small, but delivers quality food. We try the take out and are never disappointed; food is ready by the time we get there. The combination plates are enough for two persons. We love the Ginger Beef and their Spring Rolls.
