It was was pretty busy, We were told, it's just first come first served so we waited for a bit and table left, we went to sit and were told that was for the people who were waiting at the bar. When we got there, we were the ones by the bar so these people clearly got there AFTER us but they got the table. The waiter says to my husband, well it's first come first served to which my husband replied "Well I'm the first one one here, but apparently that wasn't good enough. So we left and went to Baton Rouge across the street which was excellent. So apparently, hubby was jonesing for those nachos because he thought we should try again the next day. Personally, I wouldn't have bothered but whatever. So we were there earlier and were able to get a seat. The whole drink is weird but if that's how they do it so be it. We had the nachos, the donair egg rolls and fish and chips. My husband loved the nachos, I didn't care for them. I picked the donair out of the egg roll wrapper because it was just super greasy and the fish and chips were average. So I wouldn't not recommend it, but I wouldn't say run over there and eat there immediately. On a side note, there was a woman who came in with her parents and dog, English was definitely her second language so she had a bit of trouble understanding the waiters. HOWEVER, the were giving her complete mixed messages. One waiter comes over and says the dog can't be in the seating area, he can sit outside the wall, she explains that's he's old and will howl because he wants to be near her. Another person comes and tells her he stay. Then someone else tells her he has to go because it's against the law for him to be in the restaurant. They told them they couldn't order food but only drinks. In the meanwhile, at least two waitresses come over to pet him (hope they washed their hands!) and a waiter gives him a bowl of water.
We ( my daughter, my wife and I) wanted to have lunch on August 5, 2017 around 2 pm. We sat at a table inside and waited for 15 minutes. Although multiple waitresses walked all around our table, none ever acknowledge our presence so we walked out to find another establishment in the area. I'm certain the loss of our business didn't impact their day, but I will not even try to visit that establishment in the future as there are so many others in that area that served us with excellence during the weekend.
We enjoyed our dinner on the patio while listening to some fantastic live music. The fish and chips was OK but overall, the experience was great.
I guess people go to Lower Deck more for the music and drink than the food. We have eaten here before through the years, but unless it was a fluke, the food quality has sunk to a low. I am usually not too terribly picky, but I couldnt even eat the meat that was supposed to be a hamburger. To add insult to injury, the service was poor, understaffed, took an interminable amount of time for everything, even the check.Go to McDonalds or Burger King, dont waste your money.
We were here in Halifax for our daughter's lacrosse nationals. All of the parents went for a "Team Alberta" parent night out. Drinks and music were awesome. Nachos were good. Enjoyed some wonderful maritime music but the band seemed a little unfriendly to our Alberta crowd.
