The food at this restaurant is delicious, and we usually choose to celebrate birthdays there. However, during our latest visit, the waitress informed us that in order to receive a free birthday meal, we needed to have a certain app, which we were unable to download on our older phones. Despite our clear celebration with cards and gifts on the table, the offer was not extended to us. We ended up splitting the bill among six people, totaling $128.00 before the tip. Unfortunately, this experience has left us feeling disappointed and we may not return for future birthday celebrations. Disappointing!
We've been going to Smittys every Saturday for a few years. We stopped a lot because of the deterioration both service and food. First the service. A new manager arrived a few months ago and the staff we would come... and look forward to the weekly search all went. Now there is a new crew that is loud, not very good to keep the coffee cups full, and not the people we want to see every week. The food has also become unpredictable. We realize that supply problems can still be a problem, but serving the mini-homeries instead of the regular kind is not an acceptable alternative. Yes, we can (and have) order the ash-browns, but the chefs do not cook them enough so they are not much of an option. Other restaurants with the same supply problem have found other alternatives, including serving Tater tablets that are a great improvement. Why is Smitty not looking for something that is closer to the Home Fries we used to get. The eggs are sometimes fat and inconspicuous, depending on what kind of them we order. The omelets have significantly shrunk and seem to be made with 2 eggs, not the 3 for which we are accused. The inconvenience makes it hard to know what to order. So, Smittys need to make you better. At least you train the new staff so they don't scream to customers and let the coffee run. We will probably try again, but if there are no improvements, we need to find a new place for our Saturday excursions.
Welcome to 1980. the service is excellent as it was earlier when the customer service was. The decor is stale and dated, the photos on the wall are so faded that they look like black and white now. The stands need new upholstery. The food was...ok. Back bacon was overboiled and too salty. Costs 23.00 for bacon and eggs, coffee and ABI. plus tip. Only no good value for money for a Bland experience.
I love Smitty's at Lacewood Plaza. The food is delicious, always hot, and with large portions. The prices are reasonable too, and the service is superb. My wife eats there at least once a week, and every year I give her about $500 in Smitty's...gift cards at Christmas. It is one of our favourite restaurants, especially for their good variety of breakfast meals.
