The Brown Hound Public House - Halifax

The food was amazing, and the service was exceptional! We will absolutely come back the next time we're in Halifax! They have the best fish and chips and the most delicious mussels we've ever tasted!

The service at this restaurant is exceptional! Situated in the heart of downtown, the location is perfect, and the ambiance is warm and inviting. The food is amazing, and I particularly enjoy the fish burger! I only have positive remarks to make about this place!

At first glance, this restaurant may not seem like much, but once you settle into the cozy wall seating with some comfy pillows behind you, you'll find it's a true hidden gem. It might be a little tricky to locate, but those who do will be met with exceptional pub food. I particularly enjoyed the beef and Guinness pie, and the gravy was outstanding. One of my colleagues ordered the fish and chips, while another selected the mussels, which I was fortunate enough to taste. The portion sizes are just right to satisfy your appetite! I’m certain we will return here before we leave. While the beer selection may not be extensive for craft beer lovers, it is more than adequate for the average drinker. The staff was fantastic, especially our remarkable server who handled everything like a pro, even with a broken foot. Kudos to the Brown Hound!

My wife and I dined here for the first time, and we really enjoyed the meat pie. However, the Famous Hound House Burger was quite dry and lacked any juiciness, as if it had been frozen for a long time. The kitchen staff assured us that there was nothing wrong with it and confirmed it was made with the original patty. Yet, it’s hard for me to believe that a patty containing pork could be that dry.
