The impact of Covid has definitely been felt at this restaurant. Many places are experiencing staffing issues, but the staff here seemed indifferent. I visited on a Saturday night, which may have been a busy evening. Unfortunately, my order and the orders of three other people were mixed up, which seemed to be a result of carelessness.
I have been dining at The Chicken Burger since I was a young girl, and I have always enjoyed their food. When my husband asked me where I wanted to go for our anniversary dinner, the first place that came to mind was The Chicken Burger. Unfortunately, I was left disappointed with our experience. The hamburgers that used to be the best now taste like sawdust, to put it bluntly. It was a poor choice for our special occasion.
I have been going to The Chickenburger for over fifty years and the last two times I have been very disappointed in the quality of the food. My much loved chickenburger seemed to have an added spice that was not tasty. The chicken, other than this spice, was tasteless. The onion rings were nothing but undercooked batter and tasted like grease that hadn't been changed in a while. I have company coming next month from out west and I know the first thing they will want to do is come to The Chickenburger. I hope I am not disappointed one last time, as it will be my last time.
Love the place, love the nostalgia, love the food, but can no longer afford. Inflation as run amok and although the Chick offers a nice, warm nostalgic vibe, there simply is no longer any way to enjoy the place, while maintaining any sort of fiscal responsibility. This will change nothing, of course, but alas, this is my rant.
