Was I able to rate zero stars, I would. The waiter is incredibly racist and, judging by the other reviews, it does not come a surprise. We were denied an entry because of not being able to speak proper German and/or the colour of our...skin while being lied to our faces. 21st century and you still have to deal with people that didn't learn anything from losing two wars. It's a UNESCO Heritage Site, for God's sake. Könnte ich null Sterne vergeben, würde ich es tun. Der Kellner ist unglaublich rassistisch und nach den anderen Bewertungen zu urteilen, ist das auch keine Überraschung. Uns wurde der Eintritt verweigert, weil wir kein richtiges Deutsch sprechen können und/oder unsere Hautfarbe nicht stimmt, während uns ins Gesicht gelogen wurde. Im 21. Jahrhundert hat man es immer noch mit Menschen zu tun, die aus zwei verlorenen Kriegen nichts gelernt haben. Es ist ein UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe, um Himmels willen.

I can't say if it was because we were not hotel guests or if it's because we have 3 children (the btw know how to behave in a restaurant) or if it's because we don't speak well German or maybe another reason. What I know is that we had just arrived at Hallstatt and we were hungry, the restaurant was practically empty and the waiter took a look at us and rejected admission. Maybe it was all reserved for hotel guests.... I should have doubts here. We turned around, went to the street bar 'Schirmbar', where we got hearty pub food and beautiful service. We continued to spend our euro in this bar instead of rehearsing Heritage Hotel. Maybe read your Heritage reviews.... some are not great. Maybe you don't need the business

The hotel was in a wonderful location. If you leave the ferry, it's just a few meters away! The room was beautiful with a breathtaking view. The morning breakfast was amazing. Every breakfast dinner you could wish! My only complaint was that I had no hot water to shower or bathe. The hot water just came back a few minutes. The staff didn't seem very concerned about it.
