Los Comales has tasty Tex Mex food with a variety of options on the menu, from enchiladas to burritos and more. The service was quick, and the atmosphere was average. My disappointment is that they ran out of tres leches cake, and in place, they gave us frozen cheesecake- hard as a rock! But if you don’t get dessert, you should be able to get a decent meal here.
Went there on a business lunch, with clients from Houston. Told them, its a good place to eat. When we got our food, one of the clients lettuce started moving and a roach crawled out . We were horrified and talk about embarrassing. That was definitely not good. We advised the owner and he refused to comp the meal and charged us half price. I don't see why people rave about this place, it is loud and obnoxious. I see why they have roaches, I got a glimpse of the kichen and its dirty. The chips they cook behind the building, outside. Believe me if you want, but I'm telling the Honest truth. Ever since I've never been back.. Terrible Place, check your plates.....Doesn't deserve one star.
Place is very clean and friendly. The marquerittas were excellent and I can't believe texas has them best mexican food we ever had
We had a craving for Mexican food and Los Comales was around the corner from our condo so we went there. For an early Thursday evening this place was packed. Didn't have to wait too long though. The extensive menu had several interesting items not found at other restaurants. We tried the Shrimp Stuffed Jalapeños (4) off the appetizer list. These were an almost baseball sized mix of a jalapeño stuffed with a whole shrimp and a mound of cheese, battered and fried to a light crispy finish. We both were getting a little full after one so two of them went home with us. They were great for lunch the next day. Our main dishes were Shrimp enchiladas and a Shrimp stuffed Chile relleno. Both were were served with the usual rice and refried beans. My wife loved the enchiladas and the portion was too large to finish. My chile relleno was about the best I have ever had. You could taste the shrimp which was balanced well with the batter, sauce and cheese. If I hadn't been so stuffed I might have ordered a second one. Overall this was a very good restaurant. There service was very good and people were friendly. This visit was in the off-season and I can only imagine how jumping they might be during peak season. My only complaint is that the place is so noisy that it is very difficult to have any type of conversation at the table. Other than that no problems. Will definitely go back when in the Rockport/Fulton area.
