Its a nice restaurant..and located very near to the beach. It can be very crowded during summer because lot of tourist and also lot of summer houses around the area..cosy place. Food was good.. And the price is average for Denmark prices.
We booked a table for 7:30. When we arrived there was no table, they had misunderstood and booked one at 17:30... They did fix a table fairly quick though. We wanted fish and chips but that was only on the lunch menu so we asked if it was possible to have it in the evening too? Yes, no problem! We have it on the kid's menu all day, said the waiter. So we all ordered that. After an hour's wait the food arrived. We all got a child's portion!
Cosy place at the corner to the beach must do a least one time if you are in Liseleje. Nothing special but nice for a break and relaxing.
I should have never set my foot at Lisestuen. Not only 2 minutes after entering the cafe, all hell broke lose. My hubby and I visited in the afternoon, and nicely put: the restaurant had nothing to do. To be honest, we were the only ones there except for another pair. So we thought we'd receive our foot at a reasonable time: guess we thought wrong. Horrible wrong. The owner, who was also our waiter, barely understood a word of what we were saying: not very international, mind you. So we were unable to communicate, clearly. And then, the harder it got for us to understand each other, the ruder he became. He wasn't willing to try and understand us, or laugh it off, like we attempted to... no. He started speaking lowly in a language I'm not acquainted with, before indicating harshly, by thrusting his greasy thumb into a laminated menu-card that we should point at the meals we wanted on the map. A little shell-shocked we did so. I don't think we realized just how absurd the situation truly was. We should have gotten up and left immediately. Now, alongside our meals we ordered drinks. I ordered an ice coffee and my hubby a beer: both which was pictured on the card. Most of you must know that an ice coffee is this blended mixture of icecream, syrup and coffee, which is extremely sweet. What I received 25 minutes later was a luke-warm cup of coffee with a pair of melted ice cube's put into it. It has spilled down the sides of the shattered porcelain, but that was not the worst part. I thought at first, that it had to be a joke: hot coffee with two ice cubes in it does not equal ice coffee for sure- but when I confronted the owner, he simply shrugged his shoulders. When I tried making him understand by bringing him the cup, he sneered at me. I think he said he was busy... busy with what exactly? There was, as aforementioned, barely any costumers. And God knows why. So, could it possible get worse? Yes, it could. My hubby's bear was flat. There was no bubbles in it- not a single one. So he went in and got a new one freshly tapped, but who would have guessed that also that beer was completely flat. So drinking lukewarm-coffee with ice cube's in it, a beer flatter than a deck, which has run over a pit of nails, we sat there waiting for our food. It must have been 1 hour since we ordered it by now. Why didn't we leave? I think we thought it couldn't possible be worse by then. But we were wrong... again. We were starved after a long day at the beach, and didn't want to cook at the summerhouse for once. So the owner lured us in with a promise of good food and a discount. We didn't take him up on his offer the first time- when we were headed for the beach, but on our way home, we though: might as well try it. Worst decision ever. Finally after 2 hours we received the food. We had been complaining, questioning when our food would be done, asking for refills, anything: but the owner was non responsive and unwilling to speak with us. In the meantime new customers had arrived: customers who he did also not serve their food before long over due. In the end, we ended up getting two pair of burgers: mine with the onions and tomatoes I had pleaded not be put in, and my hubby's with chicken instead of beef. To top it off with the home-made buns were bought, and soaked to the point of nonrecognition. The mayo was bordering on stale and the ketchup possible the ingredient which tasted the best. The bacon was soft and cold, as in- just gotten out of the freezer cold. Also, the nachos we got along our Mexican burgers(or mine was supposed to be one... my hubby's was... I don't know... a car crash? Anyways. The nachos. They were so soft, they couldn't stay upright when grabbed. They went limp in our fingers as they were soaked by the inexplicably soak, which inhabitated our plates. Nasauted and not in the mood for any food we left our plates, after only having tasted the corners of our plates. It was absoloutely disgusting. I believe they served us leftovers from another couple. Or pre-made microwave food. We discussed with the owner over our treatment, not that he was very responsive or comprehensible, but he seemed to grasp the idea that we were not in the least pleased by the meal. We asked for a discount, but he snorted at us. Directly into our faces. I'm a little hotheaded, so I was ready to take up the fight. But my hubby shook his head. And we ended up paying full-price for nothing in particular. Or rather: nothing would have been better served than what they had to give. We ended up buying pizza at 8:30 in the evening from a little restaurant further down the street. It wasn't that the pizza didn't taste good, it was just wallowing in the disappointment of having been promised delicious burgers and an eventful evening. I'm saddened to announce I felt bullied at Lisestuen. It felt like an act of racism: yet again, the staff treated everyone poorly. Sigh, I've never had such a poor restaurant experience before, especially not here in nice old Denmark. I'd rate Lisestuen lower than 1 star if I could, because it deserves no stars. At all.
