Worst of all, all the crockery has that gritty feel that means they were washed in a dishwasher that was full of food residue leaving everything with a thin layer of other people's leftovers. Frankly disgusting, I had to clean my tea up with my shirt sleeve to make it fit to use. The second cup of tea came with the same quality cup :
Really disappointed to say the least. Never been here before, had half an hour to spare so thought I 'd give it a whirl instead of Cherry Hill. Firstly, had to walk right through the shop to get to the restaurant and then another walk up a hill and then finally found the entrance. What a souless place! Felt like a staff canteen. Wanted a cheese scone and a coffee. Scones placed at the end of the counter with no tongs to serve them and no plates to put them on. Felt like I was asking for the world, referred to throughout as 'lovely '. Scone was less than average dry, Coffee was ok. My main grumble was that it took about 10 minutes to get out of the place no clear signage for exit, went round and round in circles through the labyrinth of Christmas tat. Felt like I was in Ikea it took that long to get out. Sorry Arcadia, your marketing ploy didn 't work, I won 't be coming back. Strikes or Cherry Hill for me in future.
We have been frequenting Arcadia for afternoon tea for years and have generally enjoyed it. However, our last two visits have been disappointing. The afternoon tea no longer includes proper scones, but instead tiny micro scones. The portions of quiche and sausage rolls have also become very small, and the prawn cocktails, which used to be included, are now missing. Despite raising the price, the quality of the afternoon tea has decreased significantly. When we inquired about the changes, we were met with rude behavior from the staff. Additionally, the area at the entrance of the restaurant is in poor condition and has not been improved despite being neglected for a while. Due to these recent unsatisfactory experiences, we have decided not to return, which is a shame as we used to enjoy visiting Arcadia.
I would not recommend this restaurant at all. The front of house staff made a mistake with our order and insisted it had already been made, even though we pointed out the error. The supervisor also refused to fix the mistake and did not acknowledge their fault. The staff were rude and unapologetic. It was an appalling experience.
