The food menu had a good selection and the food itself was excellent and enjoyed by everyone. We dined in the conservatory, which was nice and warm on a cold day. I would have given five stars, but the food service was a bit slow, likely due to our large group. We are looking forward to the full opening of the hotel and restaurant once renovations are complete.
Lovely family run hotel, room was great, service fantastic, amazing breakfast and very friendly staff. Thank you!
What a lovely dining experience, we booked a table for 2 at 1pm today Tuesday 10th Jan we had a table in the bay window with our 2 little dogs, the service was swift and polite, Catherine had the Prawnstar Martini followed by the Moules et Frites , I chose the Hot and Spicy chicken wings followed by the Steak and Guinness pie, lots of sweet tender meat , everything was well presented and well cooked, thank you Chef. Special mention to Renė out waiter, nothing was too much trouble for him. All in all we will most certainly be back and look forward to another dining experience. Many thanks to you all and keep up the good work Lord Douglas Weake and Lady Catherine Hague.
We called in for lunch whilst in the area. This restaurant is close to the A168, but without being obvious. Our welcome was a little disjointed as the receptionist was trying to juggle hotel requests with restaurant visitors and orders. We were shown to a pleasant table in the bar area, which was not very busy. The menu provided sufficient choice including catering for a specific dietary requirement. Orders are taken at the table and when served, the good quality meals and portion size represented excellent value. Paying the bill was again slightly delayed by the receptionist dealing with the hotel and restaurant arrangements. The service was nevertheless pleasant, and would have been rated excellent without the slight arrival and payment delays. Overall an enjoyable and relaxed visit
We booked a table for 4 for lunch. A really warm welcome, both from the staff, but also the pub as it was warm and welcoming too. Excellent food can recommend the fish pie. We shared a platter of Yorkshire cheeses. Theakstons beer was perfect. Great staff thank you gents (one a lovely Maltese gentleman) for your service and sense of humour coping with four mad ladies! Would recommend to anyone.
