Captain Mike's Fish and Chips

I have dined at this restaurant frequently. They serve delicious halibut and chips. The batter is crispy and holds together well. The fries are also crispy and tasty. I usually order the coleslaw and a drink as well. The prices are reasonable.

The first red flag should have been the empty restaurant at 6:30 on a Friday evening. The aroma on the drive home was not appealing. After just one look and one bite, it was clear that we would not be finishing our meal. The fries were soggy and undercooked, and the Haddock appeared to be frozen and was also soggy. We ended up throwing away $40 worth of food. We will not be returning.

We tried Captain Mike's a while back and were disappointed, but decided to give them another chance tonight. The fish was incredible! The halibut had just the right amount of batter, with a dense and satisfying filet inside. The portion of fries was just enough, and the coleslaw was perfect. The prices were reasonable for the amount of food provided. Thank you Captain Mike's, we will definitely be returning for more!

What a wonderful surprise !! we were hiking in the area and got hungry. Googled this place, and had a most amazing lunch. The fish was crispy on the outside, soft flavorful on the inside, just like it should be. The fries where just as good. No sign of oil or sogginess anywhere. Highly reccomended.

We decided to have fish and chips last night as it has been a while since we have been there. To my surprise, once again there were new owners, this time I had reservations of should I order or not. Typically I like to give all the benefit of the doubt and give a fair review. I was the only person in there at the time and no line-up, so I decided to go with the haddock n chips. The new owners were very polite, the order was done up fresh and quickly and they wanted to get some feedback. This time my attitude was for me to give them a nod it had better be good as I was not expecting it. The fish was friggin excellent, tasty crunchy light batter to perfection. The fries were on point and I had the cole slaw today. To be frank I cannot knock the place everything was really really good. These stand alone places have to be so much better and work harder than some of the local big names. I would put this up against any fish and chips in the city. I will go back in the near future for the Halibut now. I cannot get over how good it was, as I was not expecting it whatsoever and almost turned around when I entered the store. Job Well Done!
