G G Fish&chicken - Hampton

Not sure what everyone in these reviews expected from a seafood place in a strip mall in Durham. The service was polite, food was cooked to order and it was hot and fresh. Everything tasted great and was well seasoned.

Decent fish and chicken place. Had the combination fried whiting and clam strips dinner, with sides (there are a number to choose from) of potato salad and fried okra. Good food and the portion size was nearly enough for two people.

Great food. Staff was nice. Maintaining COVID regulations. Fair prices. I just wish the ranch cups were bigger lol.

I recently moved to Durham and GG 's is not far from where I live so it pains to me say that I won 't be back there again after tonight. There are not a lot of options after 9pm (that aren 't fast food) but every time I been to GG 's it was because they were open late. I enjoyed their catfish sandwich especially and found it to be tasty in addition to being decent on my budget. What I did not enjoy was the experience I got tonight. I 'm writing this review at around 10pm and they should be open until 11pm according to their listed hours but no one answered the phone when I called during the writing of this review. When I first called at 9pm there was no answer then either but I thought they must just be busy so I 'll take a quick drive over to order in person. Upon arriving I see no indication of being closed so naturally I walk in. Again, their listed hours say closing isn 't until 11pm. As soon as I walk in I hear a lady at the front counter yell We 're closed! . Visibly confused, I asked what time they closed, knowing full well I have been able to order food there later than 9pm as recently as last weekend. Her answer was We close at 9:30 . Looking at my watch I noted the time to be 9:23pm. I can understand not wanting to have to clean up again if the kitchen was already done cooking but I had no way of knowing about an early closing and whoever was behind the counter didn 't try to hide their annoyance with my presence and any potential order I might make. That definitely left an impression and considering the ease with which it could have been avoided it 's that much more infuriating. As a result of that interaction I 'll have to find a new late night spot because I will not be spending another penny at GG 's.

I use to work here, the food is great. Only the food is good though, the slushes are good as well lol
