Golden City - Hampton

This is my family's preferred Chinese restaurant. They have great lunch specials and they're quick and generous with food. The restaurant itself is open and you can see right into the kitchen. Clean, clean, clean. My favs are the chicken rice, chicken lo mein, and hot and sour. I like the people that work here, too. They're nice and friendly.

I decided to try this restaurant since a similar one near my home has closed down. I requested less sauce for my sesame chicken because I didn't want it drowning in it, and I also asked for no vegetables in my pork fried rice. They happily accommodated my requests! The woman at the counter was extremely friendly, and my order was spot on. The food was outstanding. I've found my new favorite Chinese restaurant!

The service was prompt and they provided everything I requested, but the flavors could be improved. The hot and sour soup seems to be lacking something.

I’m on the hunt for a property to build an airstrip and an art studio, and while in Mathews, my realtor Charlene pointed me to this place. It turned out to be a fantastic detour! It’s one of the reasons I’m seriously considering Mathews as my final destination. This could be my ideal spot, the place where I truly settle down. It feels like a perfect farewell – a “last hurrah” if you will. Cheers to new adventures!

I have had food from Golden City several times in the recent past. I enjoy their food, and my guy friend does too. On this last visit, I ordered the house special Egg Foo Yung, he had Pork Fried Rice and Fried Shrimp. We both enjoyed our meals. You can eat in the restaurant; they do have a small dine-in area, but we always get take-out. They DO NOT deliver, but call your order in and they will have it ready for you.
