I should have followed the reviews that say “if you have somewhere else to go, go there.” I would also add, if everywhere else is closed then go to foodland. As a vegetarian the limited menu for me was even more frustrating because not only was no effort made to accommodate me, but when I tried to offer suggestions, I was told the owner will not allow it. The “Al dente” noodles were cold and soggy. The others in my party got chicken and it was dry and lacked flavor. *Edit: I didn’t get the Diet Coke but I was informed that the “can” of Diet Coke was warm and the ice in the cup was almost 1/4 of the cup. I was also informed the chicken was cold. I’m adjusting the service to 1 star because of this. I also can’t make the food less. We waited almost 40 minutes for our food and there is a 18% mandatory tip. These would be fine if the food was good even. The one person in the party that came for sushi said it was “okay”. But they also said foodland sushi was really good, so maybe try both and see what you think. Vegetarian options: Ha. Yeah right. Parking: Shared with a lot of other places. Dietary restrictions: Ha. None that were offered.

Absolutely amazing restaurant! Our waitress, Jaiden (with a diphthong) was fantastic; exceptionally energetic and passionate! One of the things we ordered was a sushi roll, and the two guys working the sushi bar let me make it myself. Everyone was incredibly friendly, including the entire waitstaff, the sushi chefs, and the bartender. The food was outstanding as well. As a self-proclaimed pesto-aholic, the avocado pesto pasta was top-notch. Two people ordered the chicken and it was perfectly cooked and entirely delicious. The sushi was, of course, scrumptious, but I might be a bit biased there... Overall this place was an 11/10, and the experience was a 15/10! We made some new friends out of the people there, and had a great start to our stay in Kauai. The Northside Grill is a MUST!
Me and my family went to this restaurant expecting nothing more than a restaurant experience, but was greatly surprised. Me and my sister were able to make our own sushi, while being instructed by the chefs. We also had the delight of Jaiden being our server, and introducing us to the whole staff (who were mostly all family members) She told us that they were closing (selling off) the restaurant tomorrow and we lucked out with the sushi. I thought that even though it will not be of much use that I should write a review capturing how special this experience was.
