The Wheatsheaf - Harpenden

When we arrived at the restaurant, we were informed that we needed to pre-order the Mother's Day menu, which had not been mentioned when we made the reservation. It would have been helpful if someone had called ahead to let us know, as we all wanted to try the set roast Mother's Day menu. When we tried to order drinks, the bartender seemed flustered and annoyed, and did not allow us to open a tab. The restaurant had the football game on, which is understandable since it is a sports bar, but it was so loud that we couldn't hear each other speak. This was particularly frustrating as there were families with children present. We asked for the volume to be turned down, and although they did adjust it, it was still very loud. Additionally, they gave us a table for six instead of the seven we had booked for, plus a buggy, without any prior consideration. The only positive aspect of our experience was that the restaurant was clean.
